Cajun Salmon Avocado Lime - Step 2

Ingredients

Instructions

1

Step 1

1. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels and place them on a plate. Season both sides generously with Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.

2

Step 2

2. Drizzle the lemon juice over the salmon and let it sit at room temperature while you prepare the crema.

3

Step 3

3. For the avocado lime crema, scoop the avocado flesh into a food processor or blender. Add the sour cream, lime juice, cilantro, minced garlic, salt, and cayenne pepper (if using).

4

Step 4

4. Blend until smooth, scraping down the sides as needed. Add water one tablespoon at a time until the crema reaches your desired consistency—it should be thick but pourable.

5

Step 5

5. Taste and adjust seasoning with additional salt or lime juice if needed. Transfer to a bowl and set aside.

6

Step 6

6. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering. Place the salmon fillets skin-side down (if using skin-on) and cook for 4-5 minutes without moving them.

7

Step 7

7. Flip the salmon carefully and cook for another 3-4 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C) and the fish flakes easily with a fork.

8

Step 8

8. Remove from heat and let the salmon rest for 2-3 minutes before serving.

9

Step 9

9. To serve, place salmon on a plate, drizzle with avocado lime crema, and add your choice of optional sides.

Chef's Notes

For the best crust on your salmon, make sure the pan is hot before adding the fish and don't move it for the first 4-5 minutes of cooking.

If your Cajun seasoning is very salty, reduce the added salt in the recipe to avoid over-seasoning.

For extra flavor, squeeze fresh lime juice over the cooked salmon just before serving.

Serving Suggestions

Serve this Cajun salmon over rice with black beans and corn for a complete meal, or wrap it in tortillas with shredded lettuce for delicious fish tacos. Pair with a crisp green salad or roasted vegetables for a lighter option.
